Earthquake Blues

from Earthquake Blues by Support Group

/

about

The rhythm track is a sped-up sound recording taken during the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in 2004. "The drumbeat earthquakes" occured in very regular intervals. It is thought that these sounds were the result of a block of dacite sliding through Mt. St. Helens during periods of alternating heating and cooling. X300 speed.

This track was performed by Steve Fitzpatrick directly after his rather whimsically titled presentation, "Earth Rocks: Music of the Sphere" for the 2014 Atlanta Science Festival.
